HSK Test (HanyuShuipingKaoshi)
The HSK-Exam (HSK – Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) is a standardized exam of the Chinese linguistic competence, which was developed through the HSK-centre at the Language- and Culture-University in Beijing and is outside of China already held in 33 countries each year one time.
The HSK-certificate is a very important verification of the Chinese linguistic competence and is accepted international. The establishment of the HSK-centre relates to Students at Universities and Colleges with China-related course of studies, participants of language courses and employees of companies, which are represented in the Chinese economic area. Also generally to people who study Chinese, which want to certify their Chinese linguistic competence.
What is the HSK-Exam?
The Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK – Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) is a standardized exam of the Chinese linguistic competence, which was developed through the HSK-centre at the Language- and Culture-University in Beijing and is outside of China already held in 33 countries each year one time.
The HSK-Exam is subdivided in three levels:
Both the HSK-Exam itself and the release of the HSK-certificate are under supervision of the government commission for the Chinese linguistic-exam with the approval of the Chinese ministry of education. The HSK-Exam is in progress with the government commission of the Chinese linguistic-exam together with the HSK-centre at the Language- and Culture-University Beijing.
Which components has the HSK-Exam?
The HSK-Basic is an exam with 140 individual questions, which have to be answered in 135 minutes. The test is divided into three parts: listening, grammatic and reading. All questions are asked after the multiple-choice-proceeding.
The HSK Elementary-Intermediate is an exam with 170 individual questions, which have to be answered in 145 minutes. The test is divided into four parts: listening, grammatic, listening and cloze. The questions 1 to 154 are asked after the multiple-choice-proceeding, whereas with the questions 155 to 170 the students have to fill in gaps of a text with the fitting Chinese character.
HSK Advanced takes 155 minutes. The exam is subdivided into three separate parts, which are also separated in terms of time: a writing part with 120 individual questions, a part to author an text and a verbal part. The writing part with the 120 individual questions is divided into three parts: listening, reading and cloze. Different ways of questioning are used: multiple-choice, matching, filling in the gaps of the cloze and writing of Chinese characters. The verbal part is held like an interview.
Which level should be chosen?
To join the HSK-Basic, at least 100 to 800 hours tuition in the Chinese language are preconditioned.
The HSK Elementary-Intermediate is for people, who got 400 to 2000 hours tuition in the Chinese language.
The HSK Advanced is for people with more then 3000 hours tuition in the Chinese Language.
Which usage is the HSK-certificate for?
As international approved standard exam, it resembles the English exam «Test of English as a Foreign Language» (TOEFL) or the Japanese exam «Japanese Language Profiency Test» (JLPT) in his function. The HSK-certificate also serves for the following usage:
(whereas for an scholastics in science at least passing of the HSK-Basic is required, for humanistic scholastics and medicine at least passing the HSK Elementary-Intermediate is required)
